The village of Jouy-en-Argonne is located on the eastern edge of the Argonne Forest in a deep valley which is surrounded by hills except in the south-west. The municipality is crossed by the Vadelaincourt river, a tributary of the Cousances . The neighboring communities of Jouy-en-Argonne are Brocourt-en-Argonne in the west, Dombasle-en-Argonne in the north-west and north, the commune of Sivry-la-Perche in the north-east and east, which belongs to the canton Verdun-1 , and the commune in the canton Dieue- sur-Meuse located municipality Nixéville-Blercourt in the south.
