Warcq is a French commune with 196 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Verdun and the Pays d'Étain municipal association .

geography

The municipality of Warcq is located about 20 kilometers east of Verdun and about 35 kilometers west-northwest of Metz . The municipality of almost 5 km² is traversed by the upper reaches of the Orne , into which the Lauret and Ruisseau d'Eix tributaries flow. Except for the remains of alluvial forests on the banks of the Orne, the municipal area is almost free of forests. Pasture and arable land dominate. The district L'Hôpital belongs to Warcq . Warcq borders on the neighboring communities of Étain in the north, Rouvres-en-Woëvre in the northeast, Boinville-en-Woëvre in the east, Gussainville in the south and Herméville-en-Woëvre .

Economy and Infrastructure

There are three farms in the municipality of Warcq (cereal cultivation, cattle breeding).

The D 603 trunk road runs through the municipality of Warcq from Verdun via Etain to Jarny . In the municipality of Ville-en-Woëvre , eight kilometers to the south, there is a connection to the A 4 autoroute from Paris to Strasbourg . In the small town of Étain, two kilometers away, the nearest train station is on the Saint-Hilaire-au-Temple-Hagondange railway line .
