Gesnes-en-Argonne is a French commune with 59 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (before 2016: Lorraine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Verdun , the canton Clermont-en-Argonne (until 2015: canton Montfaucon-d'Argonne ) and the municipality association Argonne-Meuse .

Gesnes-en-Argonne is about 35 kilometers northwest of Verdun . Gesnes-en-Argonne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Romagne-sous-Montfaucon in the north and northeast, Cierges-sous-Montfaucon in the south and east, Montfaucon-d'Argonne in the east and Exermont in the west and southwest.
