Brabant-en-Argonne is a French commune with 106 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (before 2016: Lorraine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Verdun , the canton Clermont-en-Argonne and the municipal association Argonne-Meuse .
geography
The Cousances runs from the south in a north-westerly direction through the municipality. Brabant-en-Argonne is surrounded by the neighboring communities Clermont-en-Argonne in the southwest, west and northwest, Récicourt in the northeast, Dombasle-en-Argonne in the east and Brocourt-en-Argonne in the southeast.
history
Brabant was crossed by the old Roman road from Reims to Metz . Called Brabant-sous-Clermont in the 12th century , it was part of the Montfaucon chapter . The village was part of the Bailiwick of Clermont, the diocese of Verdun and was under the judiciary of the Princes of Condé .
The community has had its current name since 1801.
