Merles-sur-Loison is a French commune with 150 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Verdun and is part of the canton of Montmédy (until 2015: canton of Damvillers ). The inhabitants are called Merlots .

Merles-sur-Loison is located about 28 kilometers north-northeast of Verdun . Merles-sur-Loison is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Dombras in the north and west, Grand-Failly in the north and north-east, Saint-Laurent-sur-Othain in the north-east, Villers-lès-Mangiennes in the east and south-east, Romagne-sous-les- Côtes in the south and south-east and Damvillers in the south-west.
