The municipality is located in the Lorraine Regional Nature Park, founded in 1974 . Dommartin-la-Montagne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Combres-sous-les-Côtes in the north, Herbeuville in the northeast, Hannonville-sous-les-Côtes in the southeast and the communities of Dompierre-aux-Bois in the canton of Saint-Mihiel in the south , Lacroix-sur-Meuse in the southwest and Vaux-lès-Palameix in the northwest.
