The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Verdun , the canton of Stenay (until 2015: canton of Dun-sur-Meuse ) and the municipality association Pays de Stenay et du Val Dunois .

Sassey-sur-Meuse is about 43 kilometers north-north-west of Verdun on the Meuse . Sassey-sur-Meuse is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Mont-devant-Sassey in the north and west, Mouzay in the northeast, Milly-sur-Bradon in the east, Dun-sur-Meuse in the south and Doulcon in the southwest.
