history

Saint-Remy-la-Calonne was part of the Duchy of Bar , which was annexed by France with the Duchy of Lorraine in the 17th century. In 1632 many residents fell victim to a plague epidemic . During the First World War , the site was twice the scene of battles between French and German troops in 1914 and was then occupied by the Germans.

The Saint-Remy church, built in 1732, was destroyed in the First World War, as was the village, but rebuilt in 1926. The lavoir of the village was restored in 1920 according to the old templates.

In 1940, Saint-Remi-la-Calonne was again occupied by German troops and the place of a command post. In September 1944, US troops liberated the village.
