It is located in the arrondissement of Verdun and in the canton of Belleville-sur-Meuse (until 2015: canton of Charny-sur-Meuse ). The inhabitants are called Thiervillois (es) .

Thierville-sur-Meuse is a banlieue in the north-west of Verdun on the river Maas (French: Meuse ). Thierville-sur-Meuse is surrounded by the neighboring communities Charny-sur-Meuse in the north, Bras-sur-Meuse in the northeast, Belleville-sur-Meuse in the east, Verdun in the south and southeast, Dugny-sur-Meuse in the southwest and Fromeréville- les-Vallons to the west.
