Herméville-en-Woëvre is a French commune with 241 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Verdun and the Pays d'Étain municipal association . The residents call themselves Hermévillois .

geography

The municipality of Herméville-en-Woëvre (until 1922 Herméville ) is located in the Woëvre region , about 17 kilometers east of Verdun and about 37 kilometers west-northwest of Metz . The Ruisseau d'Eix , a tributary of the Orne, flows through the 14.64 km² municipal area . With the exception of the Bois d'Herméville forest in the south-east, the predominantly flat municipal area is almost forest-free, with pastures and arable land dominating. Herméville-en-Woëvre borders on the neighboring municipalities of Fromezey in the north, Étain in the northeast, Warcq and Gussainville in the east, Braquis in the southeast, Ville-en-Woëvre in the south, Grimaucourt-en-Woëvre in the southwest, Moranville in the west and Abaucourt-Hautecourt in the north-west.

The D199 from Morainville to Warcq runs through the community . In the municipality of Ville-en-Woëvre , located six kilometers to the south, there is a connection to the A4 Autoroute from Paris to Strasbourg .
