Cunel is about 31 kilometers northwest of Verdun . Cunel is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Bantheville in the north and north-west, Cléry-le-Grand in the north and north-east, Brieulles-sur-Meuse in the east, Nantillois in the south and south-east, Cierges-sous-Montfaucon in the south and south-west and Romagne-sous- Montfaucon to the west.
