Gregory Richard Cunningham (born January 31, 1991 in Carnmore , County Galway ) is an Irish football player who is under contract with Cardiff City .
Career
society
Gregory Cunningham began playing football at Cregmore FC at the age of six . In 2004 he then moved to Mervue United . There he played in youth until he went to Manchester City Youth Academy in 2007 . His first game in the professional team he completed on January 24, 2010, when he was substituted on in the FA Cup game in the 4-2 win over Scunthorpe United in the 46th minute for Nigel de Jong . On April 11th, he finally played his first Premier League game against Birmingham City . He came on in the 90th minute for Adam Johnson , the game ended 5-1 for the Citizens . On October 21, he was loaned to Leicester City . He made his debut for Leicester two days later in the 2-0 defeat at Swansea City . After playing thirteen league games for Leicester, he returned to Manchester in January 2011 .
On October 25, 2011 Cunningham moved to December 31, 2011 on loan to Nottingham Forest in the Football League Championship . On December 29, 2011, Manchester City announced that the loan had been extended to the end of the season.
For the 2012/13 season Cunningham moved to the second division Bristol City . He signed a four-year contract with the Robins until June 30, 2016.
National team
Cunningham played for Ireland's U-17 national team from 2009 to 2010. On February 22, 2010 he was nominated by coach Giovanni Trapattoni for a friendly against Brazil , but not used. On May 28, he finally made his international debut in a 3-0 win over Algeria .
