Groß Lessen is a town in the town of Sulingen in the Diepholz district in Lower Saxony . Around 640 people live in the village on an area of ​​23.85 km².

Groß Lessen is located in the south-west of the city of Sulingen, 4.5 km south-west of the core town of Sulingen. The locality of Groß Lessen includes Barrien , Groß Lessen, Melloh and Wardinghausen .

history

Since the regional reform , which came into force on March 1, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Groß Lessen has been one of five localities in the city of Sulingen.

In Groß Lessen there is still the train station on the Nienburg – Diepholz railway line . It was built in 1923; meanwhile only the Sulingen-Diepholz section of the line is used (for oil and sulfur trains), the station building is privately owned.
