Jin Dynasty Great Wall
The Great Wall of the Jin Dynasty ( Chinese 金 長城 / 金 长城 , Pinyin Jīn chángchéng ) is a more than 2500 km long border system of the Jurchen Jin Dynasty from the middle of the 12th century in the northeast of the People's Republic of China ( Inner Mongolia , Heilongjiang ) as well as in the area of today's Mongolia and Russia ( Transbaikalia region ). The stone wall was primarily intended to serve as a defense against the Mongols. Its trenches are characteristic, which is why it is also called Jin jiehao ( 金 界 壕 ) "the boundary trench of the Jin Dynasty".
course
The defense system has several sections. In the east, the defense system begins in Nianzishan ( 碾子 山 ), north-west of Qiqihar , on the border with Inner Mongolia . Another beginning lies in what is now the city of Genhe in Inner Mongolia and its end in the Chentii Mountains , Mongolia . It has a history of more than 800 years. Its official name is Jin dongbeilu jiehao bianbao ( Chinese 金 东北 路 界 壕 边 堡 - "Defense system of the border wall of the Northeastern Road of the Jin Dynasty (?)"). In the east it lies on the river Yalu He ( 雅鲁 河 ), which flows around Nianzishan, one of the tributaries of the Nen Jiang (or Nonni) ( 嫩江 ).
