The Große Nachthut is a nature reserve in the town of Aschersleben in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0075 is 7.64  hectares . It is part of the FFH area "dry slopes in the Wippertal near Sandersleben". The area has been under protection since May 1, 1961 (date of regulation: March 30, 1961). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Salzlandkreis.

The nature reserve lies between Sandersleben (Anhalt) and Freckleben on the slope of the Sanderslebener Höhe, which slopes down to the Wipper valley . It provides an up northeasterly directions exposed in northwestern limestone - steep slope under protection, on which a hillside forest residues increased, the earlier than coppice was used. The forest society is formed in the side valley in northwest exposure as a forest rennet-sessile oak- beech forest with winter linden , in northeast exposure to the valley of the Wipper as hornbeam- field elm-hillside forest. The field elm usually only occurs in the form of a bush because of the dying of the Dutch elm . The herbaceous layer of the forests is u. a. formed by golden nettle , forest flutter grass and medium lark spur . Garlic mustard and Ruprecht's cabbage are added to this, and these plants indicate nutrient input from the arable land on the Sanderslebener Höhe.

On the upper slope edges there is a narrow border of a service tree and oak forest with field maple. The shrub layer is u. a. of Purgier buckthorn and blackthorn , the herb layer u. a. is formed by blue-red stone seeds , Turkish lily and spotted arum . The border is formed by a perennial corridor with a blood cork's bill , deer root , diptame , swallow root and broad-leaved laser herb .

Finally, a bushy orchard and mesophilic grassland are included in the nature reserve.

Around fifty birds breed in the nature reserve , including the red and black kite , goshawk , small woodpecker , wryneck , red- backed killer , nightingale , oriole , golden hammer , common redstart and tailed tit .

On the plateau area of ​​the Sanderslebener Höhe, mostly fields adjoin the nature reserve.
