In the transition area to halophilic meadow communities, celery and large flea herb can be found. Moist areas are occupied by swaths of salt - beach aster societies and small areas of rushes - milkweed societies. There are also salt mud sites with samphire and littered beach sod with salt chickweed and winged chickweed .

The nature reserve is a habitat of various species of birds such as sedge warbler , reed bunting , yellow wagtail , Whinchat , marsh harrier and lapwing , all breed here.
