Nelbeer Grund and Georgsburg is a nature reserve in the small town of Könnern in the Salzland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0084 is around 8  hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area "Saale breakthrough in Rothenburg" and the conservation area surrounded "Saale". The area has been under protection since 1967 (date of regulation: September 11, 1967). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Salzlandkreis.

The nature reserve is located west of Könnern in the Lower Saale Valley Nature Park . It protects an approximately 40 meter high steep slope of the Saalberg, exposed to the west or south, as well as part of the Nelbeer Grund, a deeply carved erosion valley, on the right bank of the Saale in its breakthrough valley . Dry and semi-arid grassland communities settle on the slopes. Thus, thyme Blue fescue lawn of rankers , stonecrop corridors and therophytes companies on rocky sites or melica ciliata corridors on skeletal soils , Berggamander -Blauschwingelfluren on shallow calcareous and esparto companies on deep Lößstandorten. Noteworthy plants in the reserve are soil tragacanth , narrow-flowered grape hyacinth , steppe fennel , yellow tooth rust , shaggy pointed quill , common coniferous herb , hairy pea grass and bearded grass . Copper flowers and Haller's carnation settle on a copper slate dump that protrudes into the nature reserve from the north .

In the nature reserve are u. a. Green woodpecker , wryneck , red-backed killer , nightingale , oriole and barn warbler native. Various butterflies and snails such as the beaded grain snail , cylinder nappy snail and small smooth snail can also be found.

The lawns of the nature reserve are becoming increasingly bushy with sloe and privet bushes .

The nature reserve borders on arable land on the Saalberg plateau . In the Saale valley it borders on a rail connection .
