The Great Belgerkopf is 499.9  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Söhre (sub-area Stiftswald Kaufungen ) in the municipal areas of Helsa and Kaufungen in the north Hessian district of Kassel .

Geographical

location

The Großer Belgerkopf rises in the geo-nature park Frau-Holle-Land (Werratal.Meißner.Kaufunger forest) within the wooded abbey forest of Kaufungen . Its summit is about 3.6 km west-southwest of the core town of Helsa , 3.1 km northwest of its district Eschenstruth and about 3.5 km (as the crow flies ) south of Oberkaufungen , the core town of Kaufungen . Its southern branch is the Kleine Belgerkopf (approx.  490  m ).

Natural allocation

The Großer Belgerkopf belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Osthessisches Bergland (No. 35), in the main unit Fulda-Werra-Bergland (357) and in the subunit Kaufunger Wald und Söhre (357.7) to the natural area Söhre (357.70). Its landscape falls to the north in the main unit group West Hessisches Bergland (34), in the main unit West Hessian sink (343) in the subunit Kassel Basin (343.3).

Mountain heights and crests

The Great Belgerkopf is 499.9  m high in the context of the summit of its eastern summit, which belongs to the municipality of Helsa ; its west summit, around 280 m away, the highest point of which is roughly on the municipal boundary between Helsa and Kaufungen, is 497.3  m high. The Gilsabuche stands on the western knoll .

Flowing waters

On the north edge of the Great Belger head of the spring Set Bach and its small inflow Ahlgraben and on the eastern common with the small Belger head of Steinbach ; both are tributaries of the Losse . A tributary of the Fulda rises on the common western flank with the Wahlebach (Fahrenbach) . About 1.2 km (as the crow flies) northeast of the mountain summit are the Michelskopf lakes on the Michelskopf .

Development

The Großer Belgerkopf can only be reached on hiking trails , for example on the Eder-Gelster-Weg, which runs over the eastern highlands near the peaks and connects the Eder in the west and the Gelster in the east.
