Gueule Tapée-Fass-Colobane is one of the 19 districts (Communes d'arrondissement du Sénégal) of Dakar , the capital of Senegal .

geography

Gueule Tapée-Fass-Colobane is located in the southwest of the Cap-Vert peninsula . The municipality extends long and narrow from the bay and the beach of Soumbedioune with the Corniche ouest in the south around three kilometers to the north with a width of around 500 to 800 meters.

The municipality has an area of ​​2.0 km². Adjacent are the districts of Fann-Point E-Amitié in the west, Grand Dakar and HLM in the north and Hann-Bel Air and Médina in the east .

The Gueule Tapée district is located in the south on the coast. The Fass district joins to the north , followed by Colobane in the northeast.

The city district is almost completely built up and densely populated.

Infrastructure and culture

Soumbedioune beach is the base for coastal fishing, which is still traditionally done with pirogues , and a fish market.

The Place de l'Obelisque with the Monument de l'Indépendance is located between Fass and Colobane .

In Colobane there is a junction with Autoroute 1 , which leads from the city center to the new Dakar-Blaise Diagne Airport . The Gare routière de Colobane bus station is located at this traffic junction right next to the A1
