Cambérène is one of the 19 districts (Communes d'arrondissement du Sénégal) of Dakar , the capital of Senegal . In the village core, the place is a foundation of the Sufi brotherhood Layène . and is considered its center. The Mausolée de Seydina Issa Rohou Laye has been built on the beach for one of their spiritual leaders .

geography

Cambérène is the northeastern and, at 11 km, the furthest from the city center of Dakar. It extends long and narrowly delimited to 2400 meters along the sandy beach of the Grande-Côte in the north of the Cap-Vert peninsula with a width of 400 to 1200 meters.

Cambérène has grown together structurally and is surrounded on all sides by Parcelles Assainies , urban planning urban extensions of the metropolis of Dakar, which are characterized by a sewer system and well-ordered property and street drainage . The western part of this newly created district was combined in the Parcelles Assainies district, while the eastern part was incorporated into the neighboring town of Guédiawaye .

A two and a half kilometer road connects Cambérène to the south with the N 1 . An extension of the four-lane Voie de Dégagement Nord (VDN) dual carriageway is under construction between the beach and the urban development . It would connect the municipality to the east with Guédiawaye and to the west with the inner city of Dakar, but it meets with massive resistance from the population of Cambérène.
