Biscuiterie is one of the 19 districts (Communes d'arrondissement du Sénégal) of Dakar , the capital of Senegal . The name of the district has its origins in the fact that the biscuit factory Biscuiterie de la Médina (BDM) was located here.

geography

Biscuiterie is located in the interior of the Cap-Vert peninsula . The city district extends as a three-cornered corner long and narrow in a south-north direction over two kilometers.

In the northwest it borders on Avenue du Président Habib Bourguiba , in the east on Avenue Cheick Ahmadou Bamba Mbacké , in the south on Rue Ahmadou Malick Gueye and in the west on Allées Cheickna Cheick Sidaty Aïdara .

The municipality has an area of ​​1.2 km². Neighboring clockwise are the districts of Grand Dakar , Sicap-Liberté and Dieuppeul-Derklé in the west, and HLM in the east .

The city district is almost completely built up and extremely densely populated.

Infrastructure and culture

In the north, on Avenue du Président Habib Bourguiba , is the site of the Biscuiterie de la Médina (BDM) , which closed in 2003 and has since developed into an internationally important cultural center. It is included as a location in the Biennale de Dakar , also known as Dak'Art .

In the city district on Place de l'Unité Africaine , which is still partly known as Rond point Jet d'eau , is the headquarters of Sicap , the real estate company that has planned the construction of an entire belt of city quarters as part of the city expansion of Dakar in recent decades and has realized.
