Hélder Manuel Marques Postiga [ ˈɛɫðɛɾ puʃˈtiɣɐ ] (born August 2, 1982 in Póvoa de Varzim ) is a former Portuguese football player .
society
Hélder Postiga began his professional career in 2001 when he was promoted to the first team from the youth department of FC Porto . Under coach José Mourinho , he made his breakthrough alongside strike partner Derlei . After the great successes with Porto in 2003 (UEFA Cup winners, champions, cup winners and Supercup winners), he moved to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League for over nine million euros . However, Postiga could not prevail there. So just a year later he returned to FC Porto. Postiga did not achieve convincing performances at Porto either, so that in 2005 he was temporarily transferred to the B team by Co Adriaanse . In January 2006, Postiga switched to AS Saint-Étienne in Ligue 1 on loan until the end of the season . There he found his way back to his old strength. On his return, he scored 10 goals in 24 league games for Porto in the 2006/07 season and became Portuguese champions for the second time. During the winter break of the 2007/08 season he moved to Panathinaikos Athens on loan .
For the 2008/09 season Postiga was signed by Sporting Lisbon for 2.5 million euros . For exactly the same transfer fee, he moved to Real Saragossa in the Spanish Primera División three years later . For the Aragonese , Postiga was the club's top scorer in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons with nine and 14 goals respectively. At the end of the 2012/13 season, however, he rose with Saragossa in the Segunda División . Postiga then moved to Valencia CF for the 2013/14 season for three million euros . He signed a two-year contract until June 30, 2015 and should replace Roberto Soldado, who had switched to Tottenham Hotspur .
On January 30, 2014 it was awarded to Lazio Rome for six months with an option to buy . On September 1, he joined Deportivo La Coruña .
On July 29, 2015 Postiga moved to the Indian Super League at Atlético de Kolkata . On the first day of the match Postiga contributed two goals to the 3-2 win against Chennaiyin FC . Shortly before the end of the game, however, he injured himself so badly that he was out the rest of the season. In February 2016, Postiga moved back to the Primeira Liga for Rio Ave FC , where he signed a contract until the end of the season. He then returned to Atlético de Kolkata and won the Indian championship in 2016.
National team
With the Portuguese national team , Postiga took part in the 2004 European Championships in their own country and became vice European champion. In the quarterfinals he scored the goal for extra time against England. He was also used at the 2006 World Cup , the 2008 European Championship and the 2012 European Championship . At the 2014 World Cup , he played for the injured Hugo Almeida in the second group game against the USA , but had to be replaced after 16 minutes due to his own injury. At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa he was not considered.
