Hans-Heinz Naumann

Hans-Heinz Naumann (born January 8, 1919 in Berlin ; † April 21, 2001 in Munich ) was a German physician, university professor and ear, nose and throat doctor .

Live and act

Naumann was the son of a businessman and finished his school education in Berlin in 1937 with the Abitur , after which he was immediately drafted into military service. During the Second World War he suffered a war injury to his leg, which led to a lifelong handicap. Naumann then completed his medical studies (from 1939 to 1943) at various universities in Germany, namely in Leipzig , Würzburg , Freiburg and Frankfurt am Main . There he completed his studies with the state examination and a doctorate . The topic was "Investigations into the usability of the circulating air dryer after shooting as a hot air disinfection and sterilization device". From 1943 to 1945 he was an assistant at the ENT clinic at the University of Strasbourg . During this time, Horst Ludwig Wullstein also worked as a military and ENT doctor at the Imperial University of Strasbourg . Later Naumann took over the management of the district hospital in Volkach am Main in Lower Franconia for two years .

He received his training as a specialist in ear, nose and throat medicine in Würzburg at the clinic and polyclinic for ear, nose and throat patients at the Luitpold Hospital from 1947 to 1955 under the medical direction of Hermann Marx (1877–1953) and Max Meyer (1890–1954 ) and from 1955 under Horst Ludwig Wullstein . In 1951 he completed his habilitation with the topic "Ultrasound and ear region". In the early 1950s, he visited an Argentinian colleague, a son from the second marriage of the Spanish writer María Teresa León Goyri , whom he knew from Germany, in his hometown of Buenos Aires for about a month. In 1957 Naumann received a call as an adjunct professor and later in 1962 he was offered a chair at a university in Berlin and associated with work at the Charlottenburg Clinic. He then worked at the Steglitz Clinic at the Free University of Berlin . He held this position until March 31, 1970. In the politically troubled times in Berlin, Naumann was dean at the Medical Faculty of the Free University of Berlin (year of office 1968 to 1969).

On April 1, 1970, Naumann succeeded Alexander Herrmann as director of the Munich University ENT Clinic , which he headed until March 31, 1986. From 1972 to 1973 he was President of the German Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery . From 1986 to 1987 he was president of "CORLAS" (Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum). In 1965 Naumann became a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .

Scientifically, Naumann dealt with tumor diseases, diseases of the middle ear , rhinosurgery and the treatment of traumatological diseases. He carried out animal experiments on the physiology of the tonsils , examined the physiology of the nasal mucosa and the microcirculation of the inner ear using intravital microscopy , and promoted the development of new fluorescence and intravital microscopic test arrangements .
