Hans-Peter Fischer (born July 10, 1961 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian , canon lawyer and church historian .

Life

Hans-Peter Fischer grew up with six siblings in Freiburg. After studying theology and philosophy in Freiburg and Rome, Fischer was ordained a priest in 1989 . After working in the pastoral care he was in 1995 at the University of Freiburg with the church historical work The Archbishop of Freiburg elections in 1898 and the episcopate of Thomas Nörber to Dr. theol. PhD . He was vicar in Gottmadingen and parish administrator in Bollschweil and Sölden in the Black Forest. In 2001 he obtained his licentiate in Canon Law from the Canon Law Institute of the University of Munich . He is an alumnus of the Ducal Georgianum in Munich. In 2002 he became city pastor in Donaueschingen and head of the pastoral care unit there as well as an honorary diocesan judge in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising from 2001 to 2010 and diocesan judge in the Archdiocese of Freiburg from 2004 to 2010 .

On the initiative of Robert Zollitsch, the German Bishops' Conference appointed Fischer as successor to Erwin Gatz as rector of the Campo Santo Teutonico and the associated German Priestly College ( Pontificio Collegio Teutonico ) with effect from December 8, 2010 . In addition, he became rector of the "Arch-Brotherhood of Our Lady of Sorrows" ( Arciconfraternità di Santa Maria della Pietà ) located at Campo Santo Teutonico . From April 1, 2012 to November 1, 2013, Fischer also took over the management of the German pilgrimage pastoral care in Rome. Since June 2013 he has also taught as a lecturer in pastoral theology and church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University . The Campo Santo Teutonico announced on its website that Fischer was again appointed rector on February 1, 2017. According to the responsible circles, no decision on his successor was made when he moved to Rota in July 2017.

Pope Francis appointed him auditor (judge with the rank of prelate ) of the Roman Rota on July 20, 2017 . Like Josef Huber (1992–2010) and Markus Graulich (2011–2014) before him , he represents the German-speaking area at the second highest Roman Catholic church court, which is primarily concerned with matrimonial matters . Fischer took his oath of office on October 4, 2017 and is the first theologian from the Archdiocese of Freiburg to attend a court in the Vatican.

In 2000, Fischer was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Carlo Furno , invested in the Aachen Imperial Cathedral on May 20, 2000 by Anton Schlembach , Grand Prior of the Order, and graduated as Officer in 2013 and as Grand Officer in 2016. In 2013 he was appointed Conventual Chaplain of the Order of Malta . Since 2012 he has been a member of the Roman Brotherhood of Santa Maria dell'Anima . In 2015 he was accepted into the Vatican Arch Brotherhood Arciconfraternità Vaticana di Sant'Anna de 'Parafrenieri . In 2016 he was named in the dynastic knightly order of St. Mauritius and Lazarus invested.

Hans-Peter Fischer has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Aenania Munich in the CV since his studies .

Fischer has been co-editor of the Roman quarterly for Christian antiquity and church history since 2012 .

Fischer has been a member of the advisory board of the KNA Promedia Foundation in Bonn since 2016 .
