Hans Erdmann (music teacher)
Hans Erdmann (born February 13, 1911 in Neubrandenburg ; † February 15, 1986 in Lübeck ) was a German music teacher, musicologist and philologist.
Life
Hans Erdmann was born in Neubrandenburg in 1911 as the son of a locomotive driver. After completing his Abitur at the Schwerin Realgymnasium, he attended the Pedagogical Institute in Rostock . From 1932 to 1935 he initially worked as a primary school teacher. This was followed by studying musicology, philology and psychology, which he completed in Rostock in 1939 with a doctorate. The other professional activities were lecturer for music education at the University for Teacher Education Rostock from 1939 to 1942 and then until 1945 music educator at the teacher training institute in Güstrow .
Between 1945 and 1946 Erdmann was a lecturer in music education and psychology in the Schwerin teacher training course and then until 1958 music teacher at the Goethe Oberschule in Schwerin. He played a key role in the development of the Mecklenburg Volksliedarchiv and was also its director from 1952 to 1958.
After leaving the GDR, Erdmann's next stop was the Hanseatic City of Lübeck from 1958 , most recently in school service at the Katharineum high school . He was also a music critic for the Lübecker Nachrichten from 1958 to 1978 . In 1981 he received the Mecklenburg Culture Prize of the Landsmannschaft Mecklenburg .
In addition to his educational work, Erdmann's work included treatises on musicological topics in the specialist press and reference works, as well as the renewed publication of works by old masters or the collection of Low German songs.
Hans Erdmann died two days after his 75th birthday in Lübeck.
