Hans Frank (born October 8, 1919 in Offenburg ; † August 7, 2001 ) was a German SPD politician . From 1957 to 1977 he was mayor of the city of Furtwangen in the Black Forest . From 1964 to 1972 he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Frank, son of a carpenter, grew up as the oldest of three siblings. In Schwetzingen he first attended the Realgymnasium, which he graduated with the middle school leaving certificate, as well as the commercial school. He was used in the Reich labor, military and military service and was taken prisoner of war. After his dismissal, he worked as a commercial clerk and worked from 1947 until his election as mayor in the district office in Mannheim .

After his time as mayor, he was honorary manager of the Upper Bregtal welfare station until 1991.

Hans Frank was married twice: his first wife, whom he married in 1942 and whose marriage resulted in a son, died in 1954. He married his second wife in 1955, and this marriage also had a son.

In 1957 Frank ran for the mayor's office in Furtwangen, including against incumbent August Hug. In the first ballot, Frank received 47.7 percent of the vote, in the second ballot on November 10th, he received 58.6 percent of the vote and thus became the new mayor. He took office on December 9th. In 1965 he was confirmed in office with 78.76 percent of the votes; his second term of office was now twelve years. On December 8, 1977, he resigned from the mayor's office.

In his role as mayor, Frank initiated many projects, above all the construction of new apartments to alleviate the housing shortage. This also includes the construction of roads and sewers, a sewage treatment plant, an outdoor swimming pool, several halls and kindergartens and the Kohlhepp ski jump , as well as the new construction of the hospital and several schools, including today's Otto Hahn grammar school . His commitment contributed to the fact that the watchmaking school could be maintained. The incorporation of Linach , Neukirch , Rohrbach and Schönenbach as well as the 100th anniversary of the city charter in 1973 also fell during his term of office. Furthermore, the Bregtalbahn ceased operations on September 30, 1972.

In the 1964 state elections , Frank won a second mandate in the Villingen constituency and thus entered the state parliament. In the 1968 election , his mandate in the state parliament was confirmed. During this term he was chairman of the finance committee. After the 1972 election , he left the state parliament.

In addition, he belonged to the district council, the association assembly Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg and the board of trustees of the State Engineering School Furtwangen (today Furtwangen University ).
