Heinrich Hans von Keller (born August 23, 1852 in Insterburg , † March 7, 1916 in Berlin-Charlottenburg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Hans was the son of Emil von Keller (1798–1868) and his second wife Hedwig, née von Mayer (1824–1890), of the secret judicial and appellate judge in Insterburg.

Military career

After attending secondary and municipal schools in his hometown, Keller joined the 1st Silesian Dragoon Regiment of the Prussian Army on November 21, 1869 as a flag junior . During the war against France he advanced to secondary lieutenant in mid-September 1870 and took part in the battles near Weißenburg , Wörth , Sedan Stonne , Mont Mesly, La Grange, Malmaison, Garche and Mont Valerie as well as the siege of Paris .

After the war he was assigned to the Military Riding Institute from November 1875 to September 1876 . A year later he was appointed regimental adjutant and court officer. With promotion to Prime Lieutenant , Keller was transferred to the Magdeburg Dragoon Regiment No. 6 in Stendal on April 29, 1879 and was promoted to Rittmeister and squadron chief in mid-May 1886 . On January 12, 1889 he was commanded as an adjutant to the Cavalry Division of the XV. Army Corps . Left in this command, Keller was transferred to the 3rd Silesian Dragoon Regiment No. 15 on September 21, 1889 and commanded to Berlin on March 24, 1890 as adjutant of the 1st Cavalry Inspection. In this capacity he was late May 1892 the character as a Major and on 2 September 1892, the patent to his rank. With the appointment as regular staff officer in the cuirassier regiment "Graf Gessler" (Rheinisches) No. 8 , Keller resigned on April 18, 1896 in the troop service. On July 20, 1898, he was initially commissioned with the leadership of the Dragoon Regiment "Freiherr von Manteuffel" (Rheinisches) No. 5 and on August 18, 1898 he was appointed regimental commander. In this position, Keller rose to the rank of colonel until mid-May 1901 and was transferred to Karlsruhe on April 8, 1903 as commander of the 28th Cavalry Brigade . On the occasion of the festival of the Order, he received the Crown Order II. Class in January 1904 , advanced to Major General in mid-March 1905 and was awarded the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves on September 15, 1905 . In approval of his resignation request , Keller was put up for disposal on July 10, 1907 with a pension . On the occasion of his farewell, Grand Duke Friedrich I awarded him the star of the Commander's Cross of the Order of the Zähringer Lion and Emperor Wilhelm II honored him on September 17, 1909 with the character of Lieutenant General. He died on March 7, 1916 in Berlin-Charlottenburg.

family

Keller married Marianne Collon (* 1856) on June 5, 1878 in Nieder-Gläsersdorf. The marriage resulted in the son Heinrich Wilhelm (1892–1914), who fell as a Prussian lieutenant at Tintigny at the beginning of the First World War .
