Hans von Quitzow (General)

Hans Friedrich Christian Wilhelm Heinrich von Quitzow (born July 11, 1805 in Riesenburg in the Rosenberg district , † January 22, 1878 in Parchim ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Hans was a son of the Prussian lieutenant colonel a. D. Wilhelm von Quitzow (1770–1837) and his wife Helene, née von Kronemann (1776–1836). His father was a knight of the Order of St. John and heir to Gerdshagen and Severin .

Career

Quitzow visited the Berlin Cadet House and was transferred on April 8, 1824 as a Second Lieutenant to the 39th Infantry Regiment (7th Reserve Regiment) of the Prussian Army in Luxembourg . On April 17, 1824 he was transferred to Torgau in the 20th Infantry Regiment . For training purposes, Quitzow was commanded from mid-April 1830 for six months to the Infantry Training Battalion and served from 1833 to 1844 as an adjutant of the 1st Battalion. By mid-May 1847 he was promoted to captain and company commander . He rose to major on September 7, 1852 and was commander of the III on May 9, 1854. Battalions in the 8th Landwehr Regiment in Landsberg . In this position Quitzow was promoted to lieutenant colonel on April 9, 1857 and was transferred back to the 20th Infantry Regiment on March 6, 1858. With promotion to colonel , he was appointed commander of the 12th Infantry Regiment in Frankfurt (Oder) on May 31, 1859 . Quitzow received the Order of the Red Eagle III on June 3, 1860 . Class with swords on the rings and took on 11 November 1862 awarding of the character as a major general his farewell to board . He died in Parchim on January 22, 1878.

He married Laura Dietz (1816–1869) on January 30, 1844 in Torgau. The daughters Hedwig (1848–1903), Elisabeth (* 1849) and Anna (* 1855) emerged from the marriage.
