Harald Hofbauer

Harald Hofbauer (born August 15, 1956 in Vienna ) is an Austrian actor and musical performer .

Life

education

Harald Hofbauer graduated from 1970 to 1975 in Vienna at the Höhere Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt, specializing in advertising graphics - design. In 1977 he was the singer of the Austropop group Misthaufen , with the LP Hart but unfairly . At that time he was also playing in "MOKI", the mobile children's theater directed by Laszlo and Justus Neumann. Until 1978 he also worked as a graphic artist in Viennese advertising agencies.

From 1978 to 1981 he took private acting lessons from Dorothea Neff and Eva Zilcher . He graduated from the Krauss drama school in Vienna. His first engagement took him to the Theater der Jugend in Vienna. The director Bernd Palma, who was also his drama teacher, took him with the piece The bundle of Edward Bond 1980 to the Vienna Volkstheater . He received his vocal training privately from Franz Schuch-Tovini and Ingrid Olofson-Plautz at the Vienna Conservatory.

Career

1981–1983 he was an operetta buffo at the Raimundtheater in Vienna. There he played in Ball im Savoy with Marika Rökk and in Die Blume von Hawaii , Countess Mariza , Die Zirkusprinzessin , Das Dreimäderlhaus and Boccaccio . From 1984 to 1986 he played at the cabaret Simpl under the directorship of Martin Flossmann in all revues, as well as hero with Edith Leyrer in productions of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, as in ancient Rome , written by Flossmann for Simpl , Marlene with Cornelia Köndgen and Brennpunkt Broadway .

In 1986 he played marriage matters with Gusti Wolf in love stories at the Melker Sommerspiele under the directorship of Peter Janisch . In the same year he played at the Summer Games in Röttingen, under the direction and artistic director of Peter Josch, in Das Mädl aus der Vorstadt the Lord v. Gigl. In the 1986/87 season he appeared again at the Raimundtheater Vienna, this time as Buffo in the operetta Die Landstreicher .

Bernd Palma took him to the Regensburg City Theater in 1987 as a riff in West Side Story . He belonged to this house for eight years under the management of Marietheres List . There he played leading and title roles in the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar , Line 1 , Cabaret , Rocky Horror Picture Show , Little Shop of Horrors , Evita , The Phantom of the Opera and Sweeney Todd . Likewise in operettas such as The Land of Smiles and Orpheus in the Underworld , mostly directed by Josef Ernst Köpplinger .

In the world premiere of Elisabeth in 1991, under the direction of Harry Kupfer , he was committed to the Theater an der Wien as Felix Fürst zu Schwarzenberg , alternately also as the cover for the role of Emperor Franz Joseph . The following year, at the United Theaters in Vienna , he played in the German premiere of Kuss der Spinnenfrau den Valentin with Yamil Borges , where he also took part in the subsequent CD recording. In 1995 he went to Berlin , where he first played at the Berlin Kammerspiele in the youth theater ( Jungle Book / Balu der Bär ) and many more.

In 1996 he took over Georg and Kodaly in the German premiere of She loves me with Christine Rothacker at the Ronacher in Vienna . In 1998 Stefan Huber engaged him for the role of King Marchand in Victor and Victoria at the Dresden State Operetta . In 1999 he played in Blutsbrüder with Dagmar Hellberg at the Akzenttheater Vienna . In 2000 he appeared as Sweeney at the Akzent Theater in Vienna, with Hellberg as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd .

In 2000 he played Zaza in La Cage Aux Folles at the Hildesheim City Theater . In 1998 he was occupied in this role at the Stadttheater Bern . In 2001 he came to the Theater des Westens in Berlin for the musical Schwejk it easy (music by Konstantin Wecker ), where he played the title role of the good soldier Schwejk. Then he took over the role of singer Falco in FMA - Falco Meets Amadeus in the same theater .

In 2007/2008 he returned to the stage as Thenardier in Les Miserables at the Graz Opera and at the Klagenfurt City Theater . Since 2015 he has played every year in Munich at the Gärtnerplatztheater under the artistic direction of Josef Ernst Köpplinger, in the operetta Wiener Blut, the carriage driver and Prince Bitowski. In March 2015, Hofbauer also made a guest appearance at the Cologne Philharmonic with the production of Wiener Blut .

Since 2003 Harald Hofbauer has lived with the Estonian visual artist and jewelry designer Ivar Kaasik.
