Hard Lovin 'Man is a riff- heavy heavy metal song by the British band Deep Purple that was released on the studio album Deep Purple in Rock in June 1970 . Hard Lovin 'Man is counted as the first proto power metal song due to its hitherto unknown brutal structure and aggressiveness , and is considered one of the first heavy metal songs at all.

Emergence

Hard Lovin 'Man was mixed for the first time on New Year's Day 1970 at De Lane Lea Studios in London, with sound engineer Martin Birch at the mixer - to whom this song is dedicated - and who was recognized as a catalyst by the band on the in-rock album .

Appreciation

Bassist Roger Glover described the song as follows: "A monster groove, that's my favorite number on the album, there's so much fire in our playing, and Jon's ( Jon Lord ) Solo comes close to his ideas on stage. For me the song embodies that true character of the band at that time: driving force, eccentric compositions, experiments, two big solos, freaky, precise lyrics, exuberant attitude. I sense a band that had found each other. "

In 2001 the Japanese musician Masami Akita released the album Hard Lovin 'Man with his noise project Merzbow , which goes back to the Deep Purple song.

Live performances

Deep Purple first played Hard Lovin 'Man in the BBC Mike Harding 's Sounds Of The Seventies Session in 1970 . The song then disappeared from the program for 40 years, only to become a regular live part again from 2010.
