Bananas is the 17th studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple . It was released in October 2003 by EMI Records (worldwide) and Sanctuary Records ( USA ).

history

The album is the first with keyboardist Don Airey . It was recorded with producer Michael Bradford in Los Angeles in January and February 2003. For the song Haunted , Beth Hart was the first to hear female backing vocals; it was the first time that Ian Gillan was accompanied by someone else in the background vocals. As a songwriter, Jon Lord , who had previously left the band, was still involved in two songs: Picture of Innocence and I Got Your Number . The album reached places in the top ten in Germany and Argentina .

reception

The Allmusic website gave it 4 out of 5 stars. David Jeffries wrote that surprisingly - after the departure of Jon Lord - the album was "fantastic". "Filled with hooks and songs that get better every time you listen, there is little you can't like bananas". "
