Perfect Strangers is a song by the British hard rock band Deep Purple that was released on the reunion album Perfect Strangers in 1984 and also appeared as a single.

Recording, content and style

Perfect Strangers was recorded in Stowe, Vermont , in August 1984 . The reef came from Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow times in the early 1980s; but since he had no suitable lyrics at the time, he used it for the Perfect Strangers album sessions. In terms of content, the song deals with a reincarnation ; he tells of a conversation between the past and present self , in which the past self tells of memories from its previous life. Both selves will remain but ultimately remain unknown to each other; "must remain perfect strangers".

Perfect Strangers is one of the few Deep Purple songs that does not include a guitar solo. Regardless, it's Blackmore's favorite Deep Purple song. The title theme of the song is a vivid example of a pure minor pentatonic scale .

Perfect Strangers has been in the band's live program since 1984, and has been featured on numerous compilations, best of albums, and live albums.
