The Heidkopf is 715.3 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Rothaar Mountains . It is located near Bruchhausen in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis .

The Heidkopf rises in the northern foothills of the Rothaargebirge. Its summit is 3 km south-south-east of the core town of Olsberg with its eastern location Gierskopp , 2.7 km west-south-west of Elleringhausen , 2 km north-west of Bruchhausen , 2.7 km north of Assinghausen and 2.4 km (as the crow flies ) north-east of Wulmeringhausen ; they are all districts of Olsberg. It belongs to a range of mountains running in a north-south direction, with the Heidkopf in the south and the Olsberg in the north, which separates the Ruhr from its eastern tributary Gierskoppbach . The Assmecke tributary rises south of the mountain .
Neighboring mountains and elevations are - with heights in meters (m) above sea level (NHN): Olsberg ( 703.8 m ) in the north, Ruthenberg ( 543 m ) in the northeast, Ginsterkopf ( 663.3 m ) in the east-northeast, Istenberg ( 728 m ) in the southeast, Iberg ( 596.3 m ) in the south-southeast, Haven ( 455 m ) in the southwest and Wiedegge ( 732.3 m ) with its foothills Ohlenkopf ( Ohlenberg ; 729.2 m ) and Schmalenberg ( 714.2 m ) in the west-southwest.
Natural allocation
The Heidkopf belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33), in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Hochsauerländer Schluchtgebirge (333.8) to the natural area Ramsbecker Ridge and Gorges (333.81). The landscape slopes down to the south and east into the natural area of Bödefelder Mulde (333.80). To the northwest, it leads past the Olsberg into the sub-unit Oberruhrgesenke (335.0), which belongs to the main unit Sauerland Senken (335) .
Mountain height and forest
A trigonometric point at a height of 715.1 m is shown on topographic maps near the Heidkopf summit ( 715.3 m ) . Apart from the wind- thrown areas in its high elevations, the mountain is mostly heavily forested.
Protected areas
On the north-east and south-west flanks of the Heidkopf are parts of the nature reserve slope forests of the Olsberg ( CDDA no. 329413, identified in 2001, 1.68 km² in size). On the mountain are parts of the Olsberg landscape protection area (CDDA no. 345105; 2004; 79.52 km²) and on its southern flank those of the LSG cultural and open landscape complex Bruchhausen (CDDA no. 345044; 2004; 1.82 km²).
