Heiko Fischer (musician)

Heiko Fischer (born July 9, 1982 in Hanau ) is a German ( jazz ) guitarist and songwriter .

Live and act

Fischer received piano lessons at the age of seven; at the age of twelve he switched to the guitar. In 2000 he took part in the course of studies Popular Music of the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg in part. After lessons with Johannes Wennrich and Sandra Hempel , he studied jazz guitar with Stephan Diez at the Hamburg University of Music from 2006 to 2009, before continuing his studies with Kurt Rosenwinkel at the Berlin Jazz Institute . He also completed his diploma in particle physics in 2010 as part of a double degree .

With the pop-rock band Stanfour , of which he has been a member since 2009, he made three albums; for their production Rise and Fall he received a gold record in 2010 . With his Heiko Fischer Quartet he performed at the Jazz Baltica , the Hamburg Jazzopen and the Jazzahead, among others . He currently works in the Fischer Spangenberg Quartet ( Gateway ), which he leads with Christoph Spangenberg. He can also be heard on albums by Zascha Moktan , Roger Cicero , Nils Gessinger , Kim Wilde and Max Mutzke , and toured with the indie band Wilhelm Tell Me in 2014 . Songs he composed were also interpreted by Lena Meyer-Landrut and Charley Ann Schmutzler . Fischer celebrated his only chart success as a writer (apart from his band projects) in 2015 with Welt hinter Glas for Max Mutzke.

Prizes and awards

In 2006 Fischer and his quartet won the Hamburg state competition Jugend jazzt . In November 2009 the Heiko Fischer Quartet won the € 10,000 bilateral young jazz competition Jazzprix in Straubingen in Germany and Nove Hrady in the Czech Republic. In 2011 he was awarded the ECHO Jazz in the category “Instrumentalist of the year national - guitar” for his album Lucid .
