Heiko Klatt (born June 1, 1965 in Lübeck ) is a German lawyer in Cologne . His area of ​​expertise is media law and press law . In 2016 it was listed under "The Legal Top 500" Germany. He is also a lecturer in media law at the Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln .

academic career

Klatt studied law at the University of Cologne and the Free University of Berlin from 1985 to 1992 . From 1994 to 1996 he worked as a freelance legal assistant in the law firm Lichte, Schramm & Scheuermann. He has been a lawyer since 1996. Since 2004 he has been a lecturer in media law at the Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln.

Activity as a lawyer and appraiser

Klatt also became publicly known through mandates in proceedings that received media attention.

Among other things, he represents the moderator Stefan Raab in media and press law matters and ensured that almost no information about his private life is known to the public about the moderator. For Olympic champion Christoph Harting , Klatt put through a counter-statement on the front page of the Bild newspaper in 2017 because of the dissemination of false statements of fact. Klatt obtained numerous injunctions against almost all relevant German press publishers for various inadmissible intrusions into their privacy for the soccer national player and 2014 world champion Julian Draxler and his girlfriend Lena Stiffel. He also took legal action against the performance of the play about the suicide of the goalkeeper Robert Enke at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin.

He has acted as a lawyer for numerous other celebrities, including the record national soccer player Lothar Matthäus , Miroslav Klose , Ulf Kirsten , Wladimir Klitschko and Vitali Klitschko , Priscilla Presley , Tic Tac Toe , Die Toten Hosen , Wolfgang Petry , Heino , the rapper Sido , Cro , Lena Meyer-Landrut , Die Atzen , H-Blockx -Frontmann Henning Wehland , Thomas Anders , Eckart von Hirschhausen , Matthias Opdenhövel , Teresa Enke, Steven Gätjen , Carolin Kebekus , Charlotte Roche and the first German SIRI aka Heike Hagen . He also represents the former Head of Planning at the Federal Chancellery, Albrecht Müller , who worked under Federal Chancellors Willy Brandt and Helmut Schmidt , in disputes relating to the press. He also works for various TV production companies a. a. for Brainpool TV GmbH, which produces all Raab productions, and formerly for Lopavent (Love Parade GmbH).

Klatt was one of the experts who, on behalf of the respective broadcasting councils of the public broadcasting corporations ( Westdeutscher Rundfunk , Südwestrundfunk ), carried out expert investigations into the market effects of various telemedia offers as part of the " Three- " Step test ”.

In 2012, Heiko Klatt filed a criminal complaint for his then client Gina-Lisa Lohfink for alleged rape by two men using knockout drops . However, since the court was convinced that Lohfink had consensual sexual intercourse with the two, she was ultimately sentenced to a fine of 80 daily rates for this complaint for false suspicion .

In 2013, Heiko Klatt represented the rapper Sido in a lawsuit for defamation against the Viennese tabloid Kronen Zeitung .

After Serdar Somuncu was forbidden by a preliminary injunction in 2017 to continue to publicly refer to an editor of the West German Broadcasting Corporation as a “WDR cunt”, Klatt appealed to the court for Somuncu. However, the court considered the designation to be omitted.

Klatt has been editor-in-chief and author of the print publication “Rechtsssicher Online” since 2016.

Heiko Klatt also represented Carolin Kebekus in 2017 when she tried to prohibit media coverage of an alleged relationship with Somuncu. The Cologne Higher Regional Court , however, agreed with the reporting newspaper.

Klatt worked from 1992 to 1996 as a production manager at RTL Television GmbH and Magic Media Company GmbH and from 1994 to 1998 initially as a freelancer and from 1996 as managing partner for MAC musicmanagement & artist consulting GmbH, Cologne, which u. a. worked for Marius Müller-Westernhagen .

As a music manager, Klatt was the 1996 winner of the “Comet 1996” media prize awarded by the TV broadcaster VIVA in the “Best Marketing Campaign of the Year” category.

In addition, from 1996 to 1999 he worked as a music editor for the children's TV program "Maus-Club", which was produced by WDR .

In 2013, Klatt developed and produced the TV entertainment show “The Great Time Travel Show” hosted by Johannes B. Kerner for ZDF together with Red Seven GmbH and TVision GmbH .
