The Heilig Kreuz church was the Catholic church in Bismark , a town in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt . The church named after the cross of Jesus is located on the eastern outskirts of Bismark, on the road to Hohenwulsch , and has the address Bahnhofstrasse 33 . It belonged to the parish " St. Anna " with seat in Stendal , in the deanery of Stendal of the diocese of Magdeburg . The church is listed in the monument register of the state of Saxony-Anhalt under registration number 094 18196 as a monument .

history

With the introduction of the Reformation in the 16th century, the population and the churches in the Altmark became Evangelical Lutheran .

After the Second World War , the number of Catholics in the Altmark increased again due to the influx of refugees and displaced persons from the eastern regions of the German Empire . In 1954 the foundation stone of the Holy Cross Church was laid and in 1955 it was completed.

From 1987 the curate in Meßdorf was also looked after by the parish vicarie Hl. Kreuz in Bismark. Since Heinz Czarnojanczyk (1936–2013), the last local priest in Bismark, retired on January 1, 2007 and left the Stendal deanery, the pastor from Stendal was also responsible for pastoral care at the Church of the Holy Cross in Bismark responsible. On June 25, 2015, the church with the rectory was put up for auction at a minimum bid of 25,000 euros .
