Heiner Riepl

Heiner Riepl (born May 1, 1948 in Kelheim ) is a German painter , graphic artist and curator .

Life

After graduating from high school, doing a business apprenticeship and two years of military service at the University of Regensburg, Riepl completed a master's degree in philosophy , history and the history of science . He then studied free painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg (ADBK Nuremberg) as a master student of Ernst Weil .

He has been working as a freelance artist since 1980. With a scholarship from the ADBK Nürnberg and the Franco-German Youth Office , he attended the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Cornouailles de Quimper in 1980/1981 .

The Upper Palatinate artist house in the former Schwandorfer Kebbel Villa, which Riepl ran from 1988 to 2013.

The Friends of the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus  I + II in Schwandorf awarded him member grants for study stays at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts VCCA in 1994 and at the Künstlerhaus Schloss Plüschow in 2005. Riepl headed the Künstlerhaus Oberpfalz from 1988 to the end of 2013. After his studies at the VCCA, he realized he launched an artist-in-residence program (international exchange program ) through the associated friends' association in 1995 , which at the time of his departure awarded annual scholarships to 20 artists in the fields of visual arts , composition and literature at twelve partner institutions.

He is also a member of the BBK Niederbayern / Oberpfalz and the Bavarian State Association, the Neue Münchner Künstlergenossenschaft (NM), the Kunstvereine Regensburg (KuGV), Landshut and Passau and Group 91 . From 1990 he also sat on the expert committee for the visual arts of the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts (StMWFK).

His abstract pictures , graphics and sketches were shown in several group and solo exhibitions. Since 1996 his pictures have been regularly represented at the Great East Bavarian Art Exhibition (GOK) of the BBK Niederbayern / Upper Franconia. After handing over the management of the Künstlerhaus Oberpfalz to Andrea Lamest at the end of 2013, he moved back to his hometown Kelheim.
