Heinrich Wedemeyer
Caspar Friedrich Heinrich Wedemeyer (born December 11, 1867 in Sudershausen , † April 8, 1941 in Dresden ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Heinrich Wedemeyer studied sculpture at the Royal Art Academy in Dresden under Professor Ernst Julius Hähnel from 1888 to 1896 and from 1891 he was a master student under Robert Diez . At first he worked independently in his studio and then from 1902 was a freelance sculptor in Dresden. Around 1900 he lived and worked in the Loschwitz artist house . He later lived at Schweizer Strasse 7 and had his studio at Nöthnitzer Strasse 44 in Dresden.
Artistic career
Heinrich Wedemeyer was a member of the Grün-Weiß artist group that was created around 1910 . From 1897 he was represented at the international and national art exhibitions in Dresden. In 1934 he exhibited for the last time with the portrait bust of Miss B. and the sculptures Romanian farmer , singer , lute bat and horse tamer . Other well-known works are the bust of the dying , bronze relief Schaffen und Wirken and the bust of Margrit Bienert and the plaster sculpture horse and rider . He was also in charge of the artistic design of the ballrooms in Waldenburg Castle and created the remarkable stucco reliefs there. Together with the Dresden sculptor Rudolf Born , he designed the interior of the crematorium in Forst . Around 1928 he was appointed professor at the Dresden Art Academy.

- 1900: Bronze statue of the King Albert monument on the market in Radeberg .
- around 1901: sculpture "Christ and John the Baptist" in the apse of the St. John's Chapel of the St. John's Cemetery in Freital .
- before 1902: marble bust Georg Alois Schmitt (1827–1902), Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin
- 1902: Sandstone figure Wehrstand and in the tower area the allegorical representations of handicraft and art at the estate building in Dresden.
- 1904: Putt-like bronze sculptures on the railing platforms in Dresden's New Town Hall and on the town hall tower.
- 1904: Equestrian statue of King Albert of Saxony on the King Albert monument by Dresden architect Max Hans Kühne on the Windberg in Freital .
- around 1918: Memorial in Hanover for the Hanoverian Legion, which fought against Napoleon from 1803 to 1815 .
- 1920: Memorial stone for the painter Gerhard von Kügelgen, murdered in Loschwitz , and his son Wilhelm von Kügelgen .
- 1933: Bronze bust of Hermann Baum , professor of veterinary anatomy at the Veterinary Medicine Faculty of the University of Leipzig .
