Heinrich von Plonski

Heinrich Ludwig Franz von Plonski (born December 5, 1802 in Bernau , † January 14, 1880 in Coburg ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

On July 9, 1820, Plonski was transferred from the Cadet Corps as a Second Lieutenant in the 19th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army . In 1833 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and, after being assigned to the 10th Infantry Brigade , worked as a teacher at the division school in 1838/39. From November 1839 he was back in service as a company commander, in 1841 he became a captain and in 1847 a major and battalion commander in the 13th Infantry Regiment . In March 1848 he was transferred to the 30th Landwehr Regiment and in November 1848 to the 26th Infantry Regiment . The first deployment was in 1848/49 in the campaign in Baden and the Palatinate.

Plonski was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1853 and to colonel in 1855 . From 1853 he was in command of the 7th Grenadier Regiment . In 1854 he became inspector of the hunters and riflemen in the general staff and at the same time commander of the guard-hunter battalion . He was released from this command in 1856 and instead commander of the Reitende Feldjägerkorps . On May 22, 1858 he received his next assignment as commander of the 16th Infantry Brigade , only twelve days later he was transferred again, this time to the 4th Guard Infantry Brigade . In this position he became major general in November 1858 . In January 1861 he became commander of the 12th Division and in the same month Lieutenant General . In May 1864 he was transferred to the 2nd Guard Division .

In 1864 he took part in the war against Denmark and was last in command of the combined Guard Division put together for this war. Two years later he commanded his division in the war against Austria . On October 30, 1866 he became the commanding general of the XI. Army Corps and in this position was promoted to General of the Infantry on March 22, 1868. With the outbreak of the war of 1870 he gave this command to Julius von Bose , but remained commanding general of the Deputy General Command until January 8, 1871 , as von Bose had been wounded on August 6, 1870. On 23 March 1871 after the war, it was put up for disposition and was awarded the Grand Cross of the Red Eagle Order with Oak Leaves and Swords on the Ring .
