Heinz Müller (born January 12, 1920 in Cologne , † May 30, 1983 in Göttingen ) was a German politician ( FDP , CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from elementary school and attending the secondary school in Cologne, Müller initially trained as an insurance specialist. He then joined the Wehrmacht and became a career officer. He took part in World War II as a soldier from 1939 to 1945 and was used in the campaigns in Poland , Norway , the Balkans , Russia and Romania . During the war he suffered several wounds.

After the war ended, Müller initially worked as a mill helper and truck driver. He later worked as an employee in a company and became the managing director of a trade association. Since 1963 he was employed as an authorized signatory in the construction industry. In addition, he had been a member of the NDR Broadcasting Council since 1955 and chairman of the program advisory board for German television since 1958.

politics

Müller joined the FDP in 1946 and was a member of the federal executive committee of the Liberals . On March 20, 1958, he moved to the CDU. He had been chairman of the CDU district association in Hildesheim since 1970 and was later elected deputy chairman of the CDU regional association in Hanover . Müller was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1951 to 1982 . He was first deputy chairman in 1952/53 and then chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in 1956/57. From September 28, 1957 to March 6, 1958, he took over the leadership of the joint parliamentary group made up of the FDP and GB / BHE . From 1970 to 1974 he was first vice-president and from June 1974 to June 1982 then president of the state parliament.

Müller served from 1952 to 1954 as district administrator for the Osterode district .
