Herbert Bings

Herbert Bings (born September 20, 1951 in Stolberg (Rhineland) ; † February 4, 2011 in Ecuador ) was a German drummer and bandleader of jazz and popular music .

Live and act

At the age of four he was already playing the drums in the Stolberg marching band of 1901. In addition to studying at the Grenzland Conservatory in Aachen, today's Cologne University of Music - Aachen department, Jeunesses Musicales International gave him a four-week work phase (with concerts, radio and Recording) to the World Youth Symphony Orchestra. As part of his military service, he played in the staff music corps of the German Armed Forces and then worked as a contract soldier for almost ten years in the big band of the German Armed Forces under Günter Noris (where he was involved in numerous recordings). In 1981 he founded his own gala band, Five & Six , from which the Herbert Bings Orchestra emerged, which also accompanied Howard Carpendale , Tony Christie and Roberto Blanco . In addition, he played in the field of jazz with the groups of Paul Kuhn , Benny Bailey , Eugen Cicero , Mike Carr and Jon Eardley and in the entertainment field with Ady Zehnpfennig and in the band of Heino . In 1991 Kurt Bong brought him into the Frankfurt Radio Big Band as a drummer , in whose productions and recordings he has since been involved. Together with the bass player Sasha Teuber, he continued to record the drum and bass CD Bionic Base . He has also performed regularly with cabaret artist Rainer Bange , the jazz quartet Beyond the Limit and with guitarist Jürgen Schwab .
