The village of Herbisried is a district of the Bad Grönenbach Kneipp spa in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . It is one of six villages in the Bad Grönenbach market and borders the Oberallgäu district in the south.

Herbisried is located in Upper Swabia in the Danube-Iller region, about three kilometers south of Bad Grönenbach, at an altitude of 769  m above sea level. NN . Herbisried is bordered clockwise, starting in the north, by Markt Bad Grönenbach, the hamlets of Kornhofen , Hueb , Gmeinschwenden , Sommersberg and Greit . With the exception of the hamlet of Sommersberg in the Oberallgäu district , all other places are in the Unterallgäu district.

geology

The subsoil of the village is structurally geologically divided into two parts, diagonally from southwest to northeast. Gravel from the crack ice age of the Pleistocene is found in the northwestern area, a young moraine from the Würm Ice Age with terminal moraine trains forms the subsoil in the southeastern area. It consists of a conglomerate of sands and clays with embedded gravel .

Geotopes

On the road from Herbisried in the direction of Sommersberg there is a dead ice hole about halfway on the left by a small wood . The geotope registered with the number 778R002 has a length of 50 meters and a width of 20 meters. The height is around 2 meters. The dead ice hole was created naturally through the fall of ice on the edge of the glacier during the Würm Ice Age .

history

Herbisried is mentioned in the land register of the Grönenbach / Rothenstein rule in 1512. At that time, eight farms belonged to the rule of Pappenheim . With the introduction of the Reformation in Grönenbach, Herbisried was also divided confessionally into Catholics, Protestants and Reformed people. The plague fell in 1628 more than one person to the victim.

The listed two-storey half-timbered building with the address Herbisried 20 dates from the 18th century. The farmhouse has a flat gable roof. The wayside shrine at the western junction in the center of the village dates from 1950 .

societies

The voluntary fire brigade in Herbisried was founded in 1894 with 18 members. The first commandant of the association was Johann Abel. The comrades of the volunteer fire brigades of the hamlets Gmeinschwenden and Hueb joined the association in Herbisried in 1912.

The district road MN 24 leads through Herbisried from the north, coming from Bad Grönenbach, to the south . It then crosses the hamlets of Gmeinschwenden and Hueb before it flows into the Oberallgäu district and continues there as the OA 21 district road .
