action

After the demigod Hercules was able to free a beautiful young lady from the cave of a witcher , he went to his friend, the immortal (double-hipped) centaur Cheiron , with the magic potion he got there , whom he accidentally injured in a fight and whose eternal wound he had with the Drink tried in vain to cure. When the fires suddenly go out in the world and the cold sets in, Hercules and Deïaneira , who then seeks advice from Cheiron, decide together to visit the god of fire Prometheus , from whom they intend to learn the reason for it.

Arrived at the titan's palace, which is situated on the high cliffs, they find Prometheus frozen on his throne. The icy one tells them that Hera has kidnapped the torch with the eternal fire to Mount Ethion, and gives Hercules the order to bring it back before humanity and all life on earth perish when the flame dies on the ice. During their journey to Mount Ethion, they meet the girl Phaedra, who shows them the wrong way into the clutches of the skull-collecting giant Antaios . In the following fight Hercules is in dire straits because his adversary, after he has been defeated, repeatedly rises from the dead. Thanks to Deïaneira, the demigod finally realizes that Antaios draws his strength from his mother Gaia from the earth, so he lifts the giant into the air, shakes him there and hangs him on his trophy pole. Having defeated the monster, the two travelers continue on their way when the girl Phaedra appears again and cunningly lures them in the wrong direction. Having succumbed to the girl's trickery, when crossing a long wooden bridge built on a steep rock, they find that it is interrupted. But Hercules also masters this obstacle by shimmy and Deïaneira over the abyss with the help of a rope running along the rock face.

Arriving at a tavern at the foot of Mount Ethion, Phaedra tries again to prevent Hercules from completing his task. With magic she makes sure that Deïaneira catches Hercules in bed with several other women, whereupon she, believing the looming love affair with Hercules is about to exist, runs disappointed out of the inn into the night. The demigod, however, lets them go, continues his way to the mountain and climbs it undeterred. On the way he meets his father Zeus , who reveals to his son that Phaedra deceived him at his behest and that her actions were supposed to save his life, since the torch with the eternal fire of Hera was enclosed with a flaming ring that was also suitable for immortals is fatal. Hercules, who does not know whether he is mortal or not, takes the risk anyway.

On the way to the flaming ring, he finds the exhausted Deïaneira, who hurried after him because she learned of her mistake through the women. They move on together, when Zeus himself gets in their way to dissuade his son from his plan. But spiritual powers, an icy storm, moving rock and hurled lightning cannot stop Hercules and so he pushes into the cave with the circle of fires. There he fights his way through the flames to the torch, which he can snatch from the mountain with a mighty throw back into the palace of the fire god. Prometheus thaws. Burn the fires of the people. But Hercules is about to succumb to the searing flames. Unable to help his son trapped in the circle of fire, the desperate king of the gods threatens his wife with eternal persecution, whereupon she gives in and lowers the flames. Reinforced, Hercules and Deïaneira go back to his friend Cheiron, who, thanks to the fire Heras brought with him, is released from his wound and becomes a mortal.
