Hermann Friedrich Wilhelm Blume , from Blume since 1888 (born March 2, 1824 in Stralsund , † August 2, 1889 in Marburg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Hermann was the son of Wilhelm Blume (1795–1869) and his wife Luise, née Luttig (1799–1880). His father was a canon of Brandenburg and a high school director. The later Prussian infantry general Wilhelm von Blume (1835–1919) was his younger brother.

Military career

Blume attended high schools in Potsdam and Berlin as well as the knight academy in Brandenburg , which his father directed. He then joined on 25 March 1842 in the 20th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian army and received mid-December 1843 the character as a second lieutenant . In October of the following year, Blume was aggregated to the 27th Infantry Regiment and at the beginning of July 1846 was placed on the budget as a second lieutenant with a patent from March 8, 1844. From July 1849 to the beginning of March 1855 he was adjutant of the 2nd Battalion and in October 1855 came to Halberstadt as a company commander in the 1st Battalion in the 27th Landwehr Regiment . In mid-October 1856, Blume was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and served as a regimental adjutant from late October 1857 to May 1859. After his promotion to captain , he was appointed chief of the 2nd company in the 27th Infantry Regiment in mid-December 1859 . In the same capacity, he was transferred to the 8th East Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 45 on October 23, 1862 , where Blume commanded the 12th Company. During the German war he was in 1866 for the duration of the mobilization leader of the III. Battalions in the 4th East Prussian Landwehr Regiment No. 5 in Prussian Stargard , but without being deployed at the front.

With his promotion to major on October 30, 1866, Blume was transferred to the 4th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 17 and on September 25, 1867 appointed commander of the 2nd battalion in Celle . He led his battalion in 1870/71 during the war against France in the battles of Vionville , Gravelotte , Beaugency and Le Mans, as well as in the siege of Metz . On the occasion of the imperial proclamation in Versailles , Blume was promoted to lieutenant colonel on January 18, 1871 , and after the peace treaty , awarded both classes of the Iron Cross , was transferred to Constance in mid-July 1871 as commander of the 1st battalion in the 6th Baden Infantry Regiment . Blume married Irene Aldefeld (1831–1902) in Wetzlar on October 8, 1851 . The following children were born from the marriage:
