Hermann von Koblinski

Benno Hermann Gustav von Koblinski (born April 12, 1817 in Druse, Glogau district , † September 2, 1880 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Hermann was a son of the Prussian Rittmeister Wilhelm von Koblinski (1787–1857) and his wife Renate Jeanette, née Lucas (1790–1864). His brother Heinrich von Koblinski (1810–1895) also became lieutenant general.

Military career

Koblinski attended the grammar school in Züllichau as well as the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin . Subsequently, on August 14, 1834, he was transferred to the 37th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as portepeef ensign and was promoted to second lieutenant until mid-April 1835 . He joined the 5th Combined Reserve Battalion in Poznan on October 1, 1839, as an adjutant . From there he was transferred to the cadet house in Kulm on October 1, 1842, as an educator. He was then commanded from August 6, 1844 to September 30, 1847 for further training at the General War School. Following this, he was employed as a regimental adjutant from October 1, 1847 to June 22, 1852. During that time he was promoted to Premier Lieutenant on June 24, 1848 and to captain on June 22, 1852. From February 27, 1853 to November 20, 1853 he was then Landwehr battalion of the 37th Infantry Regiment in Attendorn . On December 1, 1853, he came as court Major in the fortress of Mainz . On October 1, 1855, he was reassigned to the 37th Infantry Regiment as a company commander. But on March 16, 1858 he was transferred to the 17th Infantry Regiment, but came to the garrison of the fortress of Luxembourg as an adjutant of the command and brigade . Appointed major on June 14, 1859, he joined the 17th Infantry Regiment on July 1, 1860, where he was commander of the 2nd Battalion. On April 1, 1863, he was then commander of the regiment's fusilier battalion and on July 30, 1863, he was awarded the Commander's Second Class of the Order of Philip the Magnanimous with Swords.

He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 25, 1864 and took part as such in the Elbarmee in the German war , where he came into action in the battle of Königgrätz . On July 11, 1866, he became commander of the 30th Infantry Regiment . On September 20, 1866 he received the Order of the Red Eagle IV. Class with Swords and promotion to colonel. In the run-up to the Franco-Prussian War , he was commissioned on July 18, 1870 to lead the 41st Infantry Brigade. During the war he fought near Weißenburg and Wörth . The horse was shot in the body near Wörth, and he was injured by the fall until January 1871. During the siege of Paris , however, he was still able to acquire the Iron Cross 2nd class. On January 18, 1871, he was promoted to major general and transferred as commander to the 41st Infantry Brigade, but on June 3, 1871, he was appointed commander of the 29th Infantry Brigade. There he was put up for disposition on October 15, 1874 with the character of Lieutenant General . He died in Berlin on September 2, 1880.

Lieutenant General Kummer in his assessment in 1870: Colonel von Koblinski is a well-trained officer who leads his regiment well on the parade ground and on the field, and can also use mixed weapons properly, as he did at this year's autumn exercise of the 16th Division who took part in the regiment. He married on October 6, 1846 in Berlin Karoline Oswald (1825-1912), the daughter of the city surgeon Johann Heinrich Konrad Oswald. The couple had several children:
