Hexetidine is an antiseptic that is used in 0.1 or 0.2% solution in the mouth and throat . It is available as a gargle solution and as a spray .

Hexetidine is a hexa hydro - pyrimidine - derivative . It is an amphiphilic compound .
Analytics
The following methods were used to characterize the substance: UV spectroscopy , infrared spectroscopy , nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy , mass spectrometry , gas chromatography and thin layer chromatography . Capillary electrophoresis can be used to analyze the substance and possible decomposition products .
effect
Hexetidine has a broad spectrum of antiseptic effects against bacteria and fungi , but mainly against gram-positive bacteria. It also has local anesthetic , astringent and deodorant effects.
