Hilsbach is a part of the municipality of Aurach in the district of Ansbach ( Middle Franconia ).

geography

The village is located on the Breitenauergraben, a right tributary of the Altmühl , in a flat, hilly plain surrounded by grassland with a few trees and arable land. In the north the field is called Haid, in the northwest Schwärz, in the west Breitenau, in the south Abfeld and in the southeast Im Mühlgrund. There is only a small forest area in the northwest.

A community road leads past Stegbruck to Brünst to the district road AN 37 (3 km south-east) or to state road 1066 (1.7 km north-west) near junction 50 of the A 6 . Another communal road leads the St 1066 crossing at Neunstetten to Eyerlohe (4 km northwest).

The place was first mentioned in 1388 in the fief book of the Herrieden monastery.

In 1800 there were 15 households in the place, all of which were subject to the Eichstättischen Vogtamt Aurach-Wahrberg .

With the community edict (early 19th century) the place was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Aurach.

Architectural monuments

  • House no. 23: Catholic local chapel of Our Lady, small saddle roof building with retracted apse and roof turret, 1738; with equipment.
  • Brünnelfeld: wayside shrine, small niche with plaster structure, pyramid roof and iron cross, marked 1724.

The place remained Catholic even after the Reformation. The residents of the Roman Catholic denomination are parish to St. Peter and Paul (Aurach) , the residents of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination to St. Wenzeslaus (Weißenkirchberg) .
