history

Vehlberg was mentioned in the feudal books of the Counts of Oettingen from 1330 to 1470. The place had to pay tithes to Weybrecht von Wollmershausen. The Sulz monastery had had a farm on the plain near Vehlberg since 1399. In 1424 it acquired a farm in Vehlberg from the Dinkelsbühl patrician Sebald Berlin . In 1450 a battle took place north of Vehlberg between Margrave Albrecht Achilles and the Franconian-Swabian League of Cities .

The place was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen , first expressly attested in 1537. In 1732 the place consisted of 17 properties, 1 chapel and 1 shepherd's house. The village and community rulership was held by the Eichstättische Vogtamt Aurach . The landlords were the Aurach Vogtamt (1 smithy, 10 properties), the Herrieden Chapter (3 properties), the Sulz monastery administrator (1 courtyard) and the mayor and council of Ansbach (2 properties, dues went to the Ansbach land maintenance office). Towards the end of the 18th century there were 18 properties in the village, 14 of which were Eichstättisch. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen .

With the community edict (early 19th century) Vehlberg was assigned to the tax district Dombühl and the rural community Weinberg . In the course of the regional reform , Vehlberg was incorporated into Aurach on May 1, 1978.

The place had a stop in Vehlberg on the now disused railway line Nördlingen – Dombühl .
