Hocalar is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Afyonkarahisar . The city is located about 60 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Afyonkarahisar and is home to about a quarter of the district's population .
The district is located in the west of the province . It borders on Sinanpaşa to the north, Sandıklı to the east and Denizli and Uşak provinces to the west . The city is located on a road connecting Sandıklı to Banaz . In the north of the district is the 1732 meter high Kızıl Dağı Mountain , part of the Ahır Dağı Mountain Range .
In addition to the district town, the district is divided into 15 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 483 inhabitants. Yeşilhisar is the only one with more than a thousand inhabitants (1,538).
