Dinar is a city and a district in Afyonkarahisar Province in southwest Turkey . The city of the same name houses around 46 percent of the area of the district.
The district is located in the southwest of the province . It borders on Kızılören and Sandıklı to the north, Şuhut to the east, Isparta province to the south, Başmakçı and Evciler to the west and Denizli province to the northwest . The D-650 trunk road runs through the district from north to south and connects Adapazarı in the north with Antalya on the Mediterranean coast . Dinar is connected to Aydın and the west coast via the D-320 . The railway line from Afyonkarahisar to Izmir also crosses the district. In the north of the district is a foothill of the Sandıklı Dağı Mountains .
The second largest county in the province is home to 6.5 percent of the province's population. In addition to the district town, it consists of two other communities (small towns, Belediye ): Tatarlı (3,035 inh ., 6 mahallas ) and Haydarlı (2,065 inh ., 7 mahallas). There are also 60 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 287 inhabitants. Three villages have over a thousand inhabitants: Yıprak (1,626), Çiçektepe (1,452) and Göçerli (1,101 pop .).
